Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often, for young people and for seniors.

For young people

You want to join Généraction

Can I work if I'm under 18?

Yes, from age 16, with parental consent.

How much am I paid, and what are the hours?

You are paid at least €11.50 net per hour. Hours aren't imposed: you set them directly with the senior, based on when you're both available.

When do I get paid?

Your pay comes at the start of the month after the mission, before the 10th. For example, for a mission done in January, you are paid in early February, before the 10th.

Why aren't there more missions on the site yet?

Généraction is just getting started, so we don't post every mission online. When a mission comes up near you, we contact you directly.

Insider tip: referrals

Know a senior who could use a helping hand? Refer them. If they turn to Généraction, you earn €30, and you could, if you wish, do the mission yourself.

Missions

Will it always be the same young person?

Yes, as long as their availability matches yours. Généraction is flexible on both sides, for you as well as for the young person.

Are the young people professionals?

Not necessarily. They are students and young workers, for whom Généraction offers a student job. For each mission, we carefully choose the young person whose profile best matches your request. Every young person has an interview with our team, and their identity is verified.

Can Généraction provide medical care?

No. Généraction does not carry out any care or medical missions. Our young people support you day to day with light home help: company, shopping, computers, gardening, outings, small helping hands around the house.

Prices and payment

How much will I pay?

Our rates are €32 per hour if you are under 80, and €30 per hour if you are 80 or over.

Our services qualify for the 50% tax credit for personal services, under current regulations. After this credit, an hour comes to €16 or €15. To find out when you get the 50% back, see the next question.

When will I get the 50% back?

There are two cases:

  • With immediate advance, for regular missions (more than 3 hours a month): you only pay 50% of the amount, collected by Urssaf. You don't pay anything upfront.
  • Without immediate advance: you pay the full amount, then the 50% is refunded through your income tax return the following year.
How can I pay Généraction?
  • Through immediate advance, for regular missions. Urssaf, not Généraction, collects only 50% of the amount.
  • By direct debit.
  • By bank transfer.

Legal framework

Who is the young person's employer?

You are. Généraction acts as a personal services agent (mandataire). We put you in touch with the young person and handle all the legal and administrative steps. You remain the employer, however.

Which documents will I sign?

There are two documents to sign:

  • an employment contract between you and the young person;
  • a mandate contract between you and Généraction.
Are you insured?

Yes. Généraction is insured by AXA as a personal services provider. Your own civil liability insurance also applies.
